Ohm reading question

The speaker jack plate has 3 outputs.
RIght /Left / Mono
I wanted to make sure wired and are using the correct ohm jack input so I tested with a mulit meter.
I got 5ohm or so rating on the 4ohm jack
viii.5 for the 8ohm
but on the 16ohm jack its reading 24-26ohm ??

R/L/1000 should be either 8/eight/4 (parallel) or 8/eight/16 (series) measuring slightly less
If you lot are reading nearly 25 ohms, it sounds like y'all take two sixteen ohm speakers wired in serial.

"Left jack just--chiffonier is 4 ohms, both speakers used.
Left and right jacks to split up amps (or stereo amp)--
both speakers work in stereo, eight ohms each side.
Right jack only--cabinet is 8 ohms, right speaker used (left speaker
off).
Mono (bottom) jack only--chiffonier is 16 ohms, both speakers used "
I have two 8ohms speakers wired in a series(to my knowledge)
Im getting a loftier reading on the bottom mono jack ...check over again its 21ohms reading on the 16ohm ohm out put
Mayhap my digital meter isnt that authentic ?

So an 8 ohm speaker will read ~ 5 to half dozen ish ohms. It doesn't seem like information technology'south wired correctly.

Definitely 8ohm speakers. Its weird crusade I tested 3 other cabs and they all read fine.I'd pop the back and confirm they're both 8 ohm speakers then go from there.
Its the mono (16ohm) jack thats reading funny. sometimes it reads 20ohm sometimes 24ohm ..
- #ix
You tested the speakers individually?Definitely 8ohm speakers.

interested to see the outcome here.

Hooked them support ,retested the 16ohm mono jack and now reading correctly at xvi.5 ohm
( my meter tends to read 1ohm high)
I have no idea why after multiple tests it was reading high 20-24ohms..
Thanks for the reply'southward and input all.

Take it apart and tighten and make clean the shorting contacts. This is the most odd thing ,so I disconnected the speaker wiring, tested each both read correct 8ohms....
Hooked them back upward ,retested the 16ohm mono jack and now reading correctly at 16.5 ohm
( my meter tends to read 1ohm loftier)
I accept no thought why after multiple tests it was reading high 20-24ohms..
Thanks for the answer's and input all.
This has been a alert.

I got 5ohm or so rating on the 4ohm jack
eight.five for the 8ohm
but on the 16ohm jack its reading 24-26ohm ??
"Left jack only--cabinet is 4 ohms, both speakers used.Left and right jacks to separate amps (or stereo amp)--
both speakers piece of work in stereo, 8 ohms each side.
Correct jack simply--cabinet is 8 ohms, right speaker used (left speaker
off).
Mono (lesser) jack only--cabinet is 16 ohms, both speakers used "
Im getting a 4.five reading from each speaker wired up
For DCR of iv.5Ω each speaker, you should read:
If you get college than 9Ω anywhere, your meter leads probably aren't making adept contact with the metal (due to oxidation, flux, poor force per unit area, etc).
... ( my meter tends to read 1ohm high) ...
Good meters often evidence 0.2 or 0.3Ω resistance with the leads shorted together because of resistance of the lead wires. Only proficient meters too have a mode to nix-out that residual reading.
Information technology could exist your probes aren't skillful, have high DCR themselves, aren't making good contact, or your meter just isn't good at resolving very low resistance. Could be any combination, or all of those things.

one) muddied/corroded multimeter cables/probes/assistant jacks/selector switch, all of which combined add ane or more than ohms to all readings.
two) very muddied/corroded leaf contacts on switching jacks.
IF push button-in connectors are used, they may also show same symptoms.
3) 4.five ohm when measuring either speaker means they are in parallel all the time (somebody suggested inserting a ´plug to break that connection which is the style to go)
Will continue after a much needed nap
